Linlin was born into an ordinary human family — but from birth, her size, strength, and appetite exceeded anything her parents could handle. At five years old, she was already as tall as an adult and caused unintentional destruction around her. Unable to feed or control her, her parents abandoned her on Elbaf Island, claiming they were sending her to stay with a "friend."
She was taken in there by Mother Carmel, a seemingly kind woman who actually ran an orphanage serving as a front for selling children to the World Government and the Marines. Linlin idolized her without knowing the truth. She spent her years in Elbaf alongside the giants, learning their values — and that was where her dream of a united world began to take shape.
The Feast That Changed Everything
During an annual feast on Elbaf, young Linlin was seized by an uncontrollable hunger pang and devoured everything—including, accidentally, Mother Carmel and the other children from the orphanage. She does not remember it. She does not know what she did. But it was most likely during this episode that she unintentionally consumed Carmel's Devil Fruit—the Soru Soru no Mi—and acquired its powers. The Soru Soru no Mi allows Big Mom to extract the souls of her victims and inject them into inanimate objects or animals to create Homies—creatures that are part object and part living being, and that obey her completely. Totto Land is Big Mom's maritime empire—an archipelago of 35 islands whose capital is Whole Cake Island, built entirely from edible materials (chocolate walls, candy trees, biscuit ground). Each island is managed by one of her children, forming a unique family-based feudal structure in One Piece.
The stated principle is utopia: all races live side by side, without discrimination. In practice, everyone lives under the constant terror of Big Mom's hunger pangs and the monthly tribute — each island must provide tons of specific food, under threat of total destruction. At Wano, Big Mom faced Eustass Kid and Trafalgar Law as a duo—two Supernova captains who joined forces to defeat her together in the underground of Onigashima.
